K-ON! Episode 1 - The Moe-Music begins!

Kyoto Animation has a new Moe-Blob show. Sure, it may not be the new series of Suzumiya Haruhi but it's still worth watching for the studio alone. KyoAni's shows have been known for their huge success, and K-ON! is another of those (judging from the first episode anyway).

Well, K-ON is about a high school music club that's just got enough members to avoid suspension. Only problem is, they aren't exactly any good at their instruments, one girl can't even play anything at all.

This scene made me scream out in laughter!

Episode 1 pretty much introduces us to the four main characters. Yui is the main girl. She's forgetful, energetinc and constantly daydreaming (kinda reminds me of Osaka form Azumanga Daioh). She only wants to join the light-music club because she thinks it would only be whistling and playing the castinets. Instead she's going to play the guitar.

The other three girls. Mio on Bass, Ritsu on Drums and Tsumugi on Keys.

So far the show hasn't deveolped, it's only the first ep. But the concept is definitely there. I'll keep watching and reviewing too. KyoAni always delivers reliable shows. I'll be in Sydney next week with no internet, but I'll definately be back on sunday night to catch up. Hopefully you'll read my ramblings next week.

Maria†Holic - You have just been warned...

...because I welcome you to the world of Yuri. But this isn't you ordinary Yuri. Instead this much more twisted and luls filled! But then that is exactly what to expect from something as random yet original as Maria†Holic.

Kanako Miyamae hates all men. In fact, she's so allergic to them that she breaks out into hives whenever she's touched by them. So to avoid hooking up with any guys she transfers into a catholic all-girls boarding school to find the perfect girl of her dreams. Unfortunately, the girl of her dreams, Mariya (the most popular student), turns out to be a guy in a dress...

Kanako finds out Mariya's little secret however he threatens to keep her mouth shut by making her life hell and threating to get her kicked out of school on the mention of Kanako being a lesbian. All the while Kanako knows she can't ever be with a guy and knows of the hives breakouts, but there's just something about him/her that makes her pants feel funny...

I've only seen the first 3 shows but i think it's the fuiniest anime of the year!

Time for your Haruhi fix - YouTube Style!

Ok! So if you're into Anime and haven't been living under a rock then I'm sure you've definitely heard of Suzumiya Haruhi (or Haruhi Suzumiya, call her what you want!). Perhaps you've even been dragged through the drama that is the second series (which I won't believe exists until it's on a DVD shelf or playing in front of my eyes). Well all you Haruiists can finally get a temporary fix with some YouTube vids released by Kadokawa.

They were meant to be released on the 13th of Feburary subject "to the whim of the SOS Brigade Leader" but instead we got footage of a Nice Boat stating it wasn't done in time (the video's been marked as private now).

But now we can rejoice because not only are they out, but Kadokawa even subbed them for us!

The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya-chan

This is based off the "official gag manga" of the Suzumiya Haruhi light novel series. For those of you that don't understand this episode, it's about Hatuyume. It's believed that dreaming of Mt Fuji, a Hawk and an Eggplant on the night of the 1st of January will bring good luck for the year.

(And there's an OP too!)

Nyorōn Churuya-san

This started as a web comic and is based off Tsuruya from the Haruhi series. It got translated, went crazy on 4chan then got turned into an Anime which you just saw on YouTube. She adores smoked cheese and loves to say "nyoro~n" frequently.

Sure, the new YouTube content is no Season two of Haruhi but I'm sure these will keep me entertained. And if you're not impressed there's more than Haruhi in your Anime life. Go watch something else, forget they ever existed and enjoy yourself!

Edit: There were links to the YouTube videos but Kadokawa have since taken the first episodes down. Episodes 2 and three are up at time of editing but are expected to follow suit. I'm not going to tell you where they can be downloaded but I'm sure they're out there. It's the INTERNET for peat sake!

Rewind: Doruro-chan - Mmmmmm... Psycho Girl!

And once again it's been a while between posts, but yeah... I've been busy playing Braid and Castle Crashers so you can forgive me for my laziness...

...because I saw something so that I had to tell you all about!

I was stumbling though the AMV universe and found this series scattered a few of the larger vids and my curiosity was twitched. It was a show so shocking, so sick, so perverted that I had to see it!

It was "Bludgeoning Angel Dokuro-chan" and (lets be honest) it's just as bad as my Battle Club addiction...

This guy, Sakura Kusakabe, is destined to create a Pedophiles Paradise by stopping all girls from aging once they reach the age of 12. This angers the gods 'cause he's accidentally made all girls immortal. So they sent the Club-To-Death Angel "Dokuro-chan" to the past to club him to death. Only, Doruko-chan falls for him and tries to stop him from inventing immortality by living with him. Problem is, she keeps killing him when she gets angry. So it's lucky she also has the power to bring him back to life!

But the story's irrelevant! You just have to watch it for it's gruesome fatalities and shock humor! Not to mention the fanservice fanservice fanservice fanservice fanservice FANSERVICE!!!!!!!

BTW, Dokuro-chan is a fucking psycho! Not only is she clubbing her massive crush with her trusty "Excalibolg", she's also transforming her enemies into animals and enjoying her favorite activity. Watching wood-glue dry. She even started an after school club for the sport (wait, what?) after torturing her teacher using the nerves of his teeth...

Oh, and if you haven't realized by now, it's graphic! Über-graphic! So there's your warning for the kiddies which means I'm all over this series! Go watch it! It's not very long!

Do IT! DO IT NOW!!!!

Rewind: Midori Days... what the hell is that?

You know what? It's just been WAAAAAAAAAAAAY too long for me to not post anything! Don't get me wrong, having a picture of Nyu on my homepage is good and all but it's time for something new. And that means something old!

It's actually not that old but not exactly new either. Hell, the Anime isn't even in widescreen as most of them are now (buy the way, my spell checker wants me to change that word to windscreen!). Well anyway WHAT THE FUCK IS Midori Days?

That's what people always ask me when they see it. Let's be honest now, it's a STUPID TITLE! And trust me, a story like this one could only ever come out of Japan...

Seiji Sawamura is a 17 year guy that can't get a girlfriend, it's so bad that he thinks the only girlfriend he could get is his right hand (nudge nudge).

Then for no reason this girl (named Midori) appears who's had a huge crush on him... there's only one problem, the girl is actually ON HIS RIGHT HAND!!!!

Now this were I have to stop and point a few things out. This was originally a Manga, and then there was an Anime made of it. Both are the same concept but essentially done in different ways.

Firast of all THE ANIME:

The Anime is actually very funny and entertaining, almost all of the story is taken from parts of the Manga and reordered to make it work in a different way. For example most episodes could contain more than one story from the Manga but all are centered around a particular minor character. There is a girl in Seiji's class that starts to like him yet all her attempts to get his attention fail. This was condensed heavily in the Anime yet it's still the major sidestory. One other character that has a prominent role in the Anime is Takamizawa, a figurine collecting maniac (with no life, he actually kind of reminds me of a 23 y.o. guy who calls himself Rasberry) that finds out about Midori, starts a Midori website and sells Midori hand puppets at an anime convention...

In the end it's a romantic comedy, and (unlike the Manga) the Anime spends more time on the romance and treats the story with a level of innocence and respect......

....but now we get to THE MANGA:

This story is just fucked up and all out HILARIOUS. Yes, there's the same stuff from the Anime but sweet and innocent is something The Manga is DEFINITELY NOT! There's even alot more story in this. However this is the stuff that was not cute enough for the Anime.

Plus there's more characters and development of the existing ones. For starters Midoris childhood friend has a crush on Seiji to create some awkward moments. There's a US exchange student (only there for fanservice) who has a crush on Seiji (and he thinks he has girl problems). And most of all theres a mad scientist who wants to cut Midori off Seiji's arm but his daughter won't let him because SHE has a crush on MIDORI! There's also a whole pile of cross dressing and way more sus moments!

Now, I read the manga first and I thought the whole story was fucked up! Then I saw the Anime which was good, but in a completely different way. So much that it felt like a completely different series. This is completely different to something like the Deathnote Anime and Manga or the Haruhi Suzumiya Light Novels and Anime. Both the written and animated versions have the same feel to the point where they are exchangeable for each other.

So because of their differences I can not recommend one over the other. They're both good, I probably like the Manga better 'cause I'm into crazy shit like that. But I've also watched the Anime numerous times in both languages! I think the best way to see this is to watch the Anime first, then read the Manga to get a different angle.

So yeah, this is one of my favorite series ever. And I wanted you all to know about this. But whenever someone sees me with they ALWAYS say "What the hell is that?" because is just looks to strange from the exterior. To them I say the following

"It's so random and it's awesome! You should read it!"

...well off you go then...

Rewind: Elfen Lied - Blood thirsty but so much more too...

You know what? It's been a while since I've been on this thing doing my little keyboard tapping and talking about stuff. So I thought as I opened my homepage to the SAME picture of Captain Herlock that I'd make it look updated.

Because I want to talk about Elfen Lied, I bought it a few days ago after getting given $50 as a gift. Right now Shin Tokyo and Madman are having a box set sale there's alot of stuff going for $50 or less until the end of the month.

Well, enough about that, because I want to talk about the series. From the exterior it might appear to be a graphic slasher series where everything is evil. However I can assure you right now that is NOT what the series (or story) is completely based upon. Because, in truth, I found it to be absolutely hilarious as well as thought provoking. To some the series up, this girl (Lucy) who can kill using a secret weapon (not so secret after the first episode) escapes from a research institute. However, she also has a split personality who is sweet an innocent. It's this girl (Nyu) that gets found (naked) on a beach by two students (cousins) and try to look after whilst hiding her from the police who want to capture her to stop her from slaughtering. Oh and the girl cousin (Yuka) likes the guy cousin (Kohta). Kinda freaky since they make out! There's alot of humor based around the fact that Nyu likes the guy and the cousin is constantly jealous.

However through the series the truth of Lucy's past becomes apparent to both the viewers and to Kohta.

This series was so good that I saw it all in the one day cause I was always wanting to know what happened next.

However, I warn you, I mentioned that it's not a graphic slasher series. It's not what the series is based around but it's definitely there. This is definitely not for those with a weak stomach. However if blood is your thirst you will NOT be disappointed!

Battle Club: Doing it's duty for "Fan Service!"

Have you ever been into something so bad that it becomes such a guilty pleasure? It might be a really bad sci-fi or song. You'd never admit it to your parents and even some of your friends! Well for me this is undeniably "Battle Club" a Manga (by Yuji Shiozaki, who wrote Battle Vixens) that scrapes from the bottom of the barrel that you end up with lesbian wrestlers, enough fan service to make you explode like the clothes do (to expose endless fields of boobs) and a girl with a massive penis!

It's like your reading some sort of perverted disaster (thats because you are).

......but it is FUCKING EPIC!

The story (if you can call it that) is based around Tamako, a (smokin hot) girl who is in a High School Wrestleing Club. Hillarity follows through its randomness. The most hillarous poit so far has been two guys (one of them being a shemale) pissing in a lake for over the space of 2 volumes!

Basically, it's one of those Mangas that I'd read in public just to see the reactions of the other people looking over your shoulder! All the while you ask yourself "WHY THE HELL AM I READING THIS?" Therefore, if you're more into something with good art and a decent story line then this defiately aint the manga for you.

But right now I absolutely adore it!

World Embryo Manga - Can't wait!

hmmmmmmm..... now you could say that i'm really bored right not. That or I'm being really constructive by documenting my life in blog form. Nah! I'm bored. I just had a trumpet lesson and I've got nothing until this composers forum thingy at 3:00 PM.... well at least I think it's at 3:00 and not earlier. That would be kindo of crap if it was.

Well anyway, I can't wait to get my hands on the Manga I ordered from Shin Tokyo last tuesday. I love going into this shop almost every day just to se what new anime and other various otaku stuff has come in. Basically the bulk of their anime stock is from Madman Entertainment as well as various other sources like their video games.

Well anyway, the manga I ordered is Volume 3 of World Embryo. It's about this guy that got sent a message on his phone of a girl that died ages ago and he ends up with a cacoon of a baby that's exactly like her but grows up to be her. Meanwhile there is an infection my these demon monster things that pass to other people through mobile phones and this guy eventually (because of taking drugs called jinki) becomes part of the organisation trying to get rid of the infection.

It's a crazy story but what did you expect? It's a japanese Manga for crying out loud! It may not be the most brilliant one I've read but it's new and I'm liking how the story's progressing so far.

Well that's given me something to do for now. I'll speak again some timme soon!
